Job Description

Overview:
Lead the development and commercialization of footwear upper materials and trims, ensuring high-performance execution from concept to production. Provide technical expertise and strategic guidance to US and Asia teams to align with brand goals.

Responsibilities:

Oversee material development to meet performance, quality, and cost targets.
Ensure timely completion and quality of product samples.
Communicate effectively with global stakeholders, ensuring alignment on material strategies.
Collaborate with US teams (Materials, PD, Design, PLM) to define seasonal material needs.
Manage supplier relationships, ensuring material compliance with technical and sustainability standards.
Provide technical support to resolve material performance issues.
Partner with US teams to develop new materials and enhance existing ones.
Facilitate decision-making and problem-solving across departments.
Drive continuous improvement in processes, material sourcing, and innovation.
Develop and mentor team members, fostering a culture of collaboration and problem-solving.
Align material development with sustainability goals and supply chain efficiency.
Travel as needed for factory visits, supplier engagement, and training.

Job Requirements

Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Material Science, Textile Engineering, or equivalent.
10 years in footwear material development, 3-5 years in team management.
Strong knowledge of material applications, product construction, and sustainability.
Expertise in SATRA testing standards and seasonal development calendars.
Skills & Competencies
Proven leadership, problem-solving, and project management skills.
Strong technical expertise in lasts, molds, and material testing tools.
Proficient in Microsoft applications and PLM systems.
Fluent in English; Mandarin is a plus.
